The Riviera was opened on April 20th 1955 as the first high rise resort on the Las Vegas Strip and is one of the oldest and most famous casinos in Las Vegas today. During the 1960s and 1970s the Riviera was under Mob control for a brief period as were most Vegas casinos during this time. Dean Martin once held a minority ownership stake in the casino while he was a headliner in the showroom. Today the Riviera is one of the brightest casinos on the Las Vegas Strip.
